  • Scope: Secure the host-level state needed to restore or expand the cluster.
  • Key Tasks:
    • Back up /etc/rancher/k3s/config.yaml from your master node(s) to your infrastructure repository.
    • Safely store the cluster join token (/var/lib/rancher/k3s/server/node-token) in your password manager or secret store so you can join new or rebuilt nodes without friction.
